AC-30 Asphalt sales for 2012 increased by 44.95% and 74.31%
(18.725 m³ and 25 740 m³) in relation to sales in 2011 and 2010.
Total bunker sales (national + ICE) in 2012 grew by 55.23%
and 35.88% (93.841 m³ and 69 641m ³) with respect to sales
in 2011 and 2010. This year´s total bunker sales composed an
8.86% share in the domestic market. In the industrial sector
(ICE) the sales for 2012 increased by 5.60% and 0.06% (6862
m³ and 78 m³) in comparison to the previous two years. The
Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) required more
bunker than diesel for thermal generation this, incrementing
yearly purchases for this product by 183.60% when compared
to 2011 and 285.25% in comparison with the total bill in 2010.
The growth in demand for LPG in 2012 reached 2.99% and
5.63% (6495 m³ and 11 922 m³) more in total sales for 2011 and
2010 respectively. LPG represented 7.51% of the total product
sales in the period. During 2012 RECOPE sold LPG (Rich in
propane) by the amount of 5662 m³ representing 2.53% of total
sales of LPG.
Total JET A-1 sales (domestic + exports) in 2012 experienced
a 1.70% decrease (-3 686 m³) in relation to sales in 2011, but
increased by 0.82% (1741 m³) with respect to 2010. This holds
true despite the fact that the number of tourists grew by around
7% (2012) when compared to the year 2011.
Total sales of diesel (ICE + domestic + exports) for 2012 versus
2011 and 2010 decreased by 10,94% and 15,88% (-129 735 m³
and 199 356 m³) respectively. This is due to the effect that ICE
shopping is the main consumer of this product for thermal
generation in the country. The ICE weakening its purchases of
diesel in 83.40% (-87 805 m³) and a 89.79% (-153 688 m³) in
relation to the years 2011 and 2010 respectively. This is the top
selling product in the domestic market, representing in 2012 a
35,46% (1.055.706 m³) in total sales.
