Annual report 2012 www.recope.com
These features al lows
the Company generate
a saving in energy
consumption of 50%,
with a light distribution
more uniform and higher
quality in the display of
colors.
In addition, the project´s teams have been incorporated into the
company’s Ethernet network so that real-time information and
historical system variables may be easily obtained through the
communications system server called WebBox (via IP address
172.16.64.154). Along with the Refinery’s electrical system
named ION Enterprise, at the following address: http://ion-app/
ion/. The information may also be published through a web
portal.
It may be noted that these projects are consistent with
corporate policies on the use of renewable energy sources for
climate change mitigation. In this case, by using solar radiation
to generate electricity and indirectly replace to some extent
the use of thermal generation and, therefore, greenhouse gas
emissions.
The Replacement of 25 lighting fixtures on access roads leading
to the Refinery´s Administration Building has not only changed
the night atmosphere of these facilities, but also generates
savings in energy consumption of up to 50% for the company:
light distribution will now be more uniform and of higher
quality in regards to the display of colors as the lamps now emit
white light instead of yellow light.
The lights are of the latest LED (Light EmissionDiode) technology
of 157 Watts. They were purchased and installed on light poles
located on the building´s main entrance via a contract that was
managed by the Refinery’s Engineering Department. These
replaced the previous sodium HPS vapor lamps of 300 Watts
each, thus leading to a reduction in the lighting circuits cost and
power consumption.
This change was also a needed in order to optimize the safety
and security at night, as the refinery´s main entrance was
previously very dark during the night.
With this type of projects, enabling increased efficiency in
electricity consumption by incorporating new technologies, we
act in accordance with corporate policies to mitigate climate
change.
