RECOPE has made important
contributions
to
the
implementation of the National
Energy Plan, by leading the process
of diversification of energy sources,
with topics such as biofuels,
Natural Gas (LNG) and hydrogen.
A biodiesel pilot plant is currently
operating at El Alto terminal and
investments in infrastructure for
storage and dispensing ethanol-
biodiesel-hydrocarbons
blends
have been made in distribution
terminals. It is noteworthy that
the company supports private
initiatives that have incorporated
biodiesel or LPG (by adapting their
units) in paid-public-transport
such as bus and taxi companies.
Moreover, considering examples
like the Dominican Republic,
where LNG was introduced in
the electricity industry and in the
transport sector by converting
10 000 vehicles and 14 stations,
RECOPE carried out corresponding
analyzes and works on an
investment plan to provide the
country with a proper system for
storage and distribution of LNG
in the midterm and it will use it as
energy for the construction of the
