The purpose is to unite efforts
in research and application of
renewable energy sources in
the country and thus support
the National Energy Plan that
promotes the incorporation of
new and alternative, renewable
and
clean
energy
resource
technologies into the matrix and
ultimately contribute to achieving
a carbon neutral balance.
RECOPE has flaunted a cutting
edge position in developing
cleaner fuels. The current research
into cleaner and renewable energy
sources along with security of
supply joins up with research into
renewable sources such as natural
gas, electricity and hydrogen.
Diversification of the energy
matrix is a priority in the National
Energy Plan and RECOPE has
shown active support by investing
in corresponding research and
infrastructure.
Efforts have led to: the
improvement of facilities for
receiving, storage, dosing and
transport
of
gasoline-ethanol
and
diesel-biodiesel
blends;
maintenance
of
an
ethanol
pilot plan in Guanacaste since
2006; research and consulting
visits to plants processing and
industrializing raw materials in the
country. We are maintaining an
experimental farm with castor and
similar species for the production
of oil and a cooperation agreement
with Ad Astra was signed to carry
out research in the use of hydrogen
as battery feed to generate
electricity for the transportation
sector.
