Annual report 2012 www.recope.com
Participants applied their knowledge and skills regarding
the proper defensive attention in an emergency, patient
stabilization and teamwork, in each scenario.
The two RECOPE brigades that participated stood out in a
way that was acknowledged by the organizers and officials of
the Red Cross and the Fire Department (who coordinated the
exercises in each of the 7 scenarios). The first response team of
La Garita won the CPR course and the El Alto terminal brigade
came top in the building evacuation course.
In order for workers to be better prepared for an emergency
due to a possible major earthquake, as it happened on the
5th of September, RECOPE carried out earthquake evacuation
exercises in the following terminals: El Alto de Ochomogo,
Puntarenas,Barranca and Hernán Garrón Salazar Building.
The exercises in El Alto and Barranca terminals were coordinated
on September 20th, by the Department of Health, Environment
and Safety (SAS), the First Emergency Response Team (
ERE
) and
evacuation leaders from each terminal.
The Hernán Garrón Salazar building simulation was coordinated
on Friday the 21st of September at 10:00 am. by the Emergency
Response Team (
ERT
) and SAS from General Management.
Preparation work for these practices began a month in advance
via motivational and building-population awareness talks along
with the preparation of the First Response Team (
ERE
) and
evacuation leaders.
The brigades participated in seven different scenarios:
1.
Initial management of the scene.
2.

3.

4.
Control of an incipient fire.
