stations at some point in the past,
but then delegated these activities
to the private sector (which was
financed by the National Bank).
It did however continue to offer
technical support, this is a fact
that Costa Ricans cannot forget
or ignore; the growth in technical

distribution chain

and
infrastructure
achieved by service stations in
the country is related to price
marketing margins approved by
ARESEP and the trainings that
RECOPE has provided (as part
of its customer service actions)
in: industrial safety training,
occupational health, customer
service, knowledge of fuel and oil
markets and technical procedures
for loading and unloading fuels.
These trainings are aimed at
owners and managers of gas
stations and industries. They
began in the eighties with the
creation of the Distribution
