the Corporate Metrology Laboratory. Also, an expansion of the building for the
Quality Control Laboratory in Barranca has been projected.
3. Attention to ships in the Pacific zone:
During the year 2013,
some equipment used for certification of bunker fuel was relocated from El Alto
Laboratory to the Quality Control Laboratory in Barranca. This is done to provide
service to ships arriving in Caldera with bunker to be sold to ICE, in order to
analyze this product more precisely and promptly. During the year 2014, a heating
centrifuge will be added, for the recertification of bunker fuel in Barranca.
4. Attention in airports:
Attention to the demand was expanded for AV
Gas and Millipore, in the terminals in International Airport Juan Santamaría and
Daniel Oduber in Liberia.
5. Project for sale of gasoline with ethanol:
The Quality Control
Laboratory in Barranca is set up to analyze ethanol chromatograms, with the goal
of implementing this project which is currently under study, including the options
RECOPE has at its disposal for said implementation. The terminals in El Alto and La
Garita require modifications and the purchase of dispensers, in order to proceed
with the sale of this product.
6. Analysis and comparison project of quality at a
Central American level:
This year RECOPE started an quality
analysis process for fuels at a Central American level, consisting of
obtaining samples and analyzing them in RECOPE´s laboratories.
The information will allow quality validation of the products
supplied by the company in Costa Rica and the efficiency of the
quality assurance system applied in the national distribution
chain.
7. UNA and UCR project: Two projects were started with
government run universities. One is an agreement with UNA to
work in matters regarding air quality and another one with UCR
to work on investigations regarding emulsions and asphalt.
8. Coordination with the Corporate
Documentation Centers:
Work was done to establish
corporate guidelines that are quick and comply with
the simplification policies of the company, in order to
document the main operational and administrative
activities for each management unit.
