Compliance with environmental law and social compensation
In the year 2014 proper environmental management was implemented
to ensure compliance with 27 projects or were in the process of being awarded. In
most of these cases, environmental studies have been conducted for infrastructure
projects, presented before the National Environmental Technical Secretariat (SETENA)
and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE). Also, continuous inspection to
ensure compliance with the applicable regulations is executed.
In the case of the project of Construction and Change of Tank Use 509-
510 and 519-520, it is pending the completion of the Compensation Plan process
before SETENA.
Regarding social compensation infrastructure projects in 2014, the Turtles
Conservation Plan was implemented. The Board of Directors of RECOPE requested the
Environmental Unit to establish a strategic plan for the conservation of turtles, under
the Atlantic Terminal project.
For the foregoing, three workshops were conducted with all entities of
Limón that are part in the issue and it was possible to implement the strategy. A total
of 80%of the Plan was implemented.
Also, cleanup of Cieneguita beaches was done on the 29th and 30th day
of November 30, 2014, and in Moín, on December 6, 2014.
