Donation of equipment
RECOPE made donations in 2014 to 28 organizations, including
municipalities, school boards and administrative boards. The donation of computer
equipment increased 53% in 2014 compared to 2013; during the under study, 101
computer equipment donations were made.
Donation of office equipment increased 124% in the year 2014, when
compared to the year 2013, from 185 to 415 donated equipment. In other assets, the
main donations consisted of scrap material given to various municipalities, such as
Limón, Turrialba, and Valverde Vega.
Attention to practitioners and trainees
Each year the company opens its doors to students from technical high
schools and universities (especially in remote areas) who wish to perform their
professional practice. For these young people to cover the costs of their stay, the
company provides helps them out. Therefore, from 2012 to 2014, an average of ¢34
million per year average was allocated for said purposes.
In 2014 the number of students admitted decreased by 24% compared
to 2013, going from 85 to 65 students. Of those admitted, 55% came from technical
high schools and universities, and 45% were university students. The economic
contribution paid was ¢33.6 million, of which 84%went to college students.
Students from technical high schools and universities have a month, or
up to threemonthsmaximum, for their practice. College students do their professional
practice for 2-6 months. Students from technical high schools and universities are
allocated mainly in the Management of Refining, Distribution and Administration and
Finance. University students were assigned mostly to General Management and the
Distribution Department.
