SaraSalazarBadilla.
President of the Board of Directors of Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo S.A. (RECOPE) since May
8, 2014. Graduated in Civil Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). Majored in Heavy Construction
and Construction Management, under the agreement between Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
- Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) and UCR; Master in Business Management with emphasis in
Marketing from Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica and has a postgraduate degree in Management from
INCAE Business School. She started her professional career in ICE, as a Structural Design Engineer and Head
of the Administrative Services Office in the Civil Engineering Department of the Sub management Division
of Energy Development (SDE).She participated in the Electrical Demand and Integrated Expansion System
processes in the National Electric Planning Center, in the Electricity Division.
IreneCañasDíaz
Alternate Vice-president of RECOPE´S Board of Directors since May 8, 2014. Graduated in Civil
Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR).Was an engineering assistant at UCR. Worked in Ingenieros
Consultores S.A. (IMNSA) and has developed her professional career in ICE, in the Energy Construction
Department, the Strategic Planning and Control Office, in Technological Process for Electricity Generation and
was the coordinator for Costa Rica and Panama of the 4E Program: Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency
for GIZ (Geserttshaft Internationale Zusammenarbelt). She is currently the Vice Minister for Energy and
Environmental Management.
