METROLOGY
The Ente Costarricense de Acreditación (ECA) accredited the
calibration method of the meters used in the product sale
systems in different terminals and airports provided for by
RECOPE.
To obtain accreditation RECOPE had to involve evaluators
and foreign technical experts of the highest level of expertise
from Mexico´s Mass and Volume department of the National
Metrology Centre. These engineers are well renowned in many
organizations such as the International Bureau of Weights and
Measures, the highest worldwide body for the establishment
and regulation of measurements.
The accreditation provided for by the INTE -ISO/IEC 17025:2005
standards was officially delivered on the 23rd of August, 2012, at
the El Alto de OchomogoTerminal. It certifies themethod known
as “Volume meter calibration by comparison of volumetric
containers” (the volume meters are used in the sale of product
at plants and airports and volumetric containers are model-
measurement equipment) by the Metrology Department´s
Metrology Transfer Laboratory. It also increases the National
Metrology Laboratory´s mass and volume calibration range.
This allows RECOPE to offer its customers high quality
measurements, assuring accuracy and specific uncertainty
levels in the volume of product expended, in accordance with
the provisions of international law.
These calibrations are recognized internationally. The ECA
has entered mutual recognition agreements with global
organizations like the International Accreditation Forum (IAF),
the purpose is to establish mutual and multilateral recognition
agreements between regional and international accrediting
organizations so as to guarantee worldwide recognition of
accreditations and lower risks to business and customers.
