Annual Report 2013 www.recope.com
Total gasoline sales (Plus 91 + Super) represented 34.70% (1,049,239 cubic meters) of the total product sold during
the year 2013, being the second highest selling product from RECOPE, after diesel. They showed a 1.72% (17,714) increase
with regards to total gasoline sales (Plus 91 + Super) for the year 2012.
If we compare annual Plus 91
gasoline sales (Regular) and Super for the 2013
with those for the year 2012, we can see that
the first only increased 1.77% (10,448 cubic
meters), while the second product increased
1.65% (7,268 cubic meters). The participation
percentage for each type of gasoline was
stable between both years, with Plus 91
gasoline dominating the national market when
compared with Plus gasoline.
GASOLINE
Incoming shipments
The number and type of freights received during
the year 2013 totaled 131 shipments, out of which 129 were
sea freights (121 to Moín and 8 to Caldera), and two by
tanker trucks. Puerto Caldera received 1.16 million barrels
of imported Fuel Oil No. 6, with 1.8% S, which were sold
to ICE’s thermoelectric plan in Garabito. Low sulfur bunker
sales for the Barranca terminal reached 93,766 cubic meters
during the year 2013.
A reduction of 18 ships arriving was observed
during the year 2013 in comparison with the year 2011,
representing scale economies in shipping costs. It is
important to highlight the fact that after the dredging
works in the piers, shipments containing 240,000 barrels
were replaced by ships carrying 300,000 barrels. For that
reason, fewer ships are coming in to port
ANUAL FUEL SALES
Total annual sales for petroleum products for the

corresponding to 90.9% of national sales (2,748,147 cubic
meters) and 9.10% for direct sales to the Costa Rican
electricity institute (ICE), for thermal generation (275,253
cubic meters). The increase in the annual product sale rate for
the year 2012 was 1.55% (46,034 cubic meters).

sales for the year 2013 (1,124,852 cubic meters + 1,049,239
cubic meters = 2,174,091 cubic meters).
