trend started with the Plus 91 with Ethanol Pilot Program,
being sold for several years on this terminal for the Central
Pacific and Guanacaste areas.
The ratio for types of gasoline for the year 2012 was
similar, each representing approximately 50% of the total.
Analysis of the annual sales for gasoline products
by economic sector for the year 2013 vs. 2012 show that,
as in previous years, the sector with the highest gasoline
consumption are gas stations, representing 98.92% for the
year 2013 and the rest is comprised by other sectors (fishing,
peddlers and others). The economic sectors that increased
their annual sales from the previous year are the following:
service stations by 1.79% and the fishing industry by 7.11%;
for other sectors, sales decreased from one year to the other.
During the year 2013, 16 price variations occurred.
For gasoline, these variations represented six price increases
and ten price decreases. It must be noted that while during
the month of January the sale price for Plus 91 was ¢678.00
per liter, for themonth of December 2013 price was at ¢651.00
per liter, showing an annual decrease of 4.15% (¢27.00). Super
gasoline suffered an even greater price decrease, going from
¢718.00 per liter in January to ¢667.00 per liter in December,
for an annual decrease in price of 7.65% (¢51.00). These sale
prices are determined by the law and are applicable to all
service stations within the country.
If gasoline sales are analyzed by terminal, it can be
observed that only in the Barranca Terminal sale of both types
of gasoline is similar. Also, said terminal registered a decrease
in total sales during the year 2013 of 3.71% (6,664 cubic
meters), in comparison to the sales for the previous year. This
