Diesel is the number one selling product in the national market. Total sales for the year 2013 represented 37.20% of
the total. Total sales for this product (national + ICE* + exports) were 1,124,852 cubic meters for the year 2013, representing an
increase of 4.71% (50,648 cubic meters) with regards to the year 2012.
National
diesel
sales,
without ICE, increased 0.44% (4,648
cubic meters), when both periods are
compared. Diesel was not exported
during the year 2013.
ICE sales totaled 65,980 cubic
meters, showing an increase of 277.61%
(48,507 cubic meters) with regards
to the year 2012, even if ICE is using
bunker C and low sulfur bunker to substitute diesel in the electric generation plants, as it has in previous years.
When comparing diesel sales to ICE for thermal generation, by quarters for the years 2013 and 2012, significant
increases can be observed for the I and II quarter of the year 2013 (7193.79% and 643.17%), compared to 2012. However, the
contrary was observed for the III quarter 2013.
Regarding total diesel sales for 2013 vs. 2012, the economic sectors that reflected an increase in their sales during
2013 when compared to the year 2012 were the following:
service stations by 1.14%, electricity, gas and water services
by 253.00%, transportation by 21.16%, fishing industry by
2.09%, construction by 15.69% and other sectors by 3.74%.
