Reforestation campaign
With theparticipationof children fromthe leader school in thecommunity
of Corales in Puerto Limón, a reforestation campaign was developed in September
in coordination with RECOPE´S Environmental Unit and the Communications
Department.
The President of the Company, Engineer Sara Salazar participated in this
activity, along with the Refinery and Development Managers, Engineer Henry Arias
and Engineer Leonel Altamirano, respectively. The president and managers planted
native species of trees in the area surrounding the local basketball court and they
urged the students to take care of the environment by recycling and implementing
rational use of energy, among other suggestions.
Training tomobile equipment operators
A group of 50mobile equipment operators fromMayca, company located
in Barreal, Heredia, received a training course for efficient use and energy savings,
imparted by RECOPE during the month of May.
The collaboration provided by Engineer Henry Siles, retired staffmember
from RECOPE, must be noted, as he supported the expansion and projection work
performed, with a seminar regarding technical matters of importance for drivers,
including the characteristics of variousmotors, the composition of fuels, and providing
advice for efficient driving and fuel saving, among other topics.
Structural reinforcement of the Torito River Bridge
As part of the actions performed regarding social corporate responsibility,
the bridge over the Torito River was reinforced, which is the main access to the town
of Peralta, in the canton of Turrialba, and had been affected by landslides in the zone.
This collaboration was requested by the Development Association in the year 2013.
Contribution to the construction of minor roads
Annually, for the construction of minor roads, an asphalt and asphalt
emulsions donation program to municipalities is executed, for which a series
of requirements must be duly met, including an inspection of works by RECOPE
engineers. This has been a permanent program developed since the year 1981.
