comply with current and
effective Costa Rican standards.
In 2015, monthly quality assurance tests confirmed
that all products offered by RECOPE comply with
current and effective Costa Rican standards.
This is evidenced by the quality certification reports,
made in regards to fuel and asphalt samples,
prepared by the Electrochemical and Chemical
Energy Center (Centro de Electroquímica y Energía
Química – CELEQ) and the National Laboratory of
Structural Materials and Models of the Universidad
de Costa Rica (Laboratorio Nacional de Materiales
y Modelos Estructurales – LANAME), and submitted
before the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (ARESEP).
The storage tanks selected for testing are chosen
at random, and the tests are held in the terminals
and storage sites in Limon, El Alto, La Garita and
Barranca. These tests ratify the results obtained by
the internal laboratories that authorize the sale, after
certifying that it meets the specifications laid forth in
current and effective regulations.
As shown in the table below, and in two other
testing reports, the annual average octane level in
gasoline, and the sulfur levels in gasoline, diesel and
bunker, comply with, and or exceed, the current and
effective standards.
