RECOPE ANNUAL REPORT 2015
LABORATORY ASSESSMENTS AND
CERTIFICATIONS
During this period, the internal metrology
laboratories participated in national, regional and
bilateral assessment comparisons with other
laboratories involved in the measurement of
sensitive magnitudes, such as mass, flow and
temperature. The comparisons were satisfactory in
all respects, corroborating the technical competence
in the calibrations of the Metrology Department.
In regards to Quality Assurance, the results observed
in the round of international laboratory comparisons
were found to be more accurate than 80% of
the other entrants’ results, which is statistically
satisfactory. Technical competence was confirmed in
108 of the tests performed.
EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE
In general, the quality assurance and metrology
laboratories were outfitted with additional
equipment, computer systems, furniture and
instruments to ensure the continued operation and
expansion of services, and to achieve optimization
of turnaround times and greater accuracy in
measurements and update methods.
The Central Pacific and Moín quality assurance
laboratories were outfitted with ¢305.02 million
colones worth of equipment and, with an investment
of ¢70,000,000 colones, the Laboratory Information
Management System (LIMS) was updated to include
a feature to manage and control the data generated
by the laboratory tests in La Garita and Barranca;
to this end, a total of 10 licenses were acquired. In
addition, El Alto laboratory was outfitted with new
hardware and was provided general maintenance.
Moreover, the Moin laboratory was equipped with
an automated door and access system, for security
purposes, with an investment of ¢29,600,000
colones.
The renovation and expansion of the National
Metrology Laboratory facilities in El Alto plant
were completed. Improvements were made to the
Quality Assurance Laboratory in La Garita, including
improvements to the parking area, the water tank (in
the event of possible contingencies), and the reagent
storage warehouse.
¢153.77 million colones worth of equipment were
procured for the Metrology Department, and a
portable air quality measuring device was acquired
in light of the UNA-RECOPE agreement. This
equipment is expected to start operating in 2016.
